# Embrained Beta Return & Refund Policy

**Last Updated:** April 27, 2026

Thank you for participating in the Embrained Beta Pilot. Because the Plexus robot is currently produced in extremely limited, handcrafted batches (5 units for this initial pilot), we have specific terms regarding returns.

## 1. Beta Prototype Acknowledgment
You are purchasing a beta hardware prototype, not a mass-manufactured consumer electronic device. Minor aesthetic imperfections in the 3D-printed parts or laser-cut acrylic plates are expected and do not constitute a defect.

## 2. Return Policy
**We do not accept standard returns or offer refunds "if you change your mind" on Beta hardware.**
Given the limited batch size and the experimental nature of the platform, all sales are final upon shipping, except in the case of DOA (Dead on Arrival) hardware.

## 3. Defective / Dead on Arrival (DOA) Hardware
If your Plexus robot arrives physically damaged from shipping, or if the core electronics (XIAO ESP32-S3 or custom Beta PCB) are entirely non-functional upon unboxing, you must contact us within **14 days of delivery**.

- **Process:** Please email beta@embrained.ai with photos of the defect, the shipping box (if damaged), and a description of the issue.
- **Resolution:** If we determine the unit was DOA due to our assembly or shipping, we will either provide a replacement component or issue a full refund upon the return of the defective unit. We will cover the return shipping costs for DOA units.

## 4. Software & Firmware Issues
Software bugs, Python dependency issues, or difficulties training neural models do not qualify as hardware defects. The Embrained Software Suite is an actively developed research tool. If you encounter software issues, please utilize our Discord community or file an issue on our GitHub repository. We do not issue refunds for software-related challenges.

## 5. Contact Us
If you have questions about this policy or need to report a DOA unit, please contact us at beta@embrained.ai.
